*Next Saturday -- February 2nd at 5pm* is the opening of the Marsh Youth
Theater’s production of *“In and Out of
Shadows”<#http://themarsh.org/myt_perform.html>
*a new musical about undocumented teenagers written especially for MYT Teen
Troupe by author Gary Soto. MYT Teen Troupe interviewed dozens of
undocumented teens throughout the Bay Area, whose stories are incorporated
in Soto’s script. Set in Richmond, CA, this is an important new work of
social justice theater full of humor, passion and hope.

This is particularly exciting for me as *I have co-written the music for
this show with my wife Emily Klion*.

*Wednesday, February 27th* I will be performing at *Yoshi’s in
Oakland<http://www.yoshis.com/oakland/jazzclub/artist/show/3231>
* with my dear friend and mentor *Terry Riley*. This is a rare Bay Area
performance by the “godfather of minimalism” whose music has inspired
generations of artists from Steve Reich and Phillip Glass to The Who and
the Kronos Quartet. Terry and I have been performing for nearly thirty
years and our duo performances are particularly inspired adventures,
traversing a musical landscape from ragas and standards to sparkling
minimalist improvisations and Riley’s own cherished compositions.
