AMARC is hoping to get more programming from North American Community stations. If you have programming, get in touch with them right away.

This is Gabriela Mayorquín and I am helping the AMARC Secretariat coordinate this year's March 8 braodcast-campaign. I am contacting you because we have gotten rather a slow response to our call for programs from North America. I would like to have more radios in the US and Canada contribute some of their excellent programs to this year's campaign.

This year's focus theme is "Financing for women's equality and empowerment", yet programs on other women-related subjects are also welcomed. I am including some info regarding the uploading of programs to the AMARC server. Any help to better represent North America would be very appreciated.

Tune in to the International AMARC-WIN broadcast for Women's International

Day on March 8!

February 29, 2008, Montreal - This March 8th, the Women's International

Network of the World Association of Community Radio Broadcasters

(AMARC-WIN) will celebrate Women's International Day with a 24-hour

Webcast dedicated to women and gender issues. The Webcast will begin at

1:00 am GMT on Saturday March 8. To see a more detailed schedule and for

further information visit our website www.march8.amarc.org

This year, the campaign focuses on "financing for gender equality and

women's empowerment", a critical issue that The Commission on the Status

of Women of the United Nations has recognized as a priority and as the

central theme during its fifty-second session in 2008. This and many other

subjects about women will be addressed in documentaries, interviews,

debates, poetry and music produced by community radio broadcasters from

all continents.

The Forth Annual Women's International Day campaign broadcast will feature

programming in English, French, Spanish, Arabic, Filipino and many other

languages. Individual files are available for download. We invite all

radio stations to re-broadcast the programs by downloading them from

www.march8.amarc.org
