Dear Gardner Fellows out in the DC Area:

I'm moving to the DC/MD area this August, and am looking for leads on housing. Specifically, I'm looking for a place, preferably near American University, that I can sublet during the month of August while I'm searching for long term housing. If you have any suggestions/know of anything, I would greatly appreciate it! (Since I only lived in the area for one summer 10 years ago, all suggestions are welcome!)

Separate of an August sublet, I'm also looking for leads on a 1 or 2 bedroom apt or duplex for the '08-'09 academic year. The specifics of what I'm looking for are below:

LOOKING FOR RENTAL FOR '08-'09 ACADEMIC YEAR

Looking to rent a 1 or 2 bedroom duplex or apartment in Maryland (near the DC border) beginning early August, 2008 for the 2008-2009 academic year, or longer. Preference is for a place on or near a metro stop, and which is also no more than 20-25 minute drive by car in traffic to American University. I will have a car - so will need access to regular parking, and am looking for a tree-lined neighborhood.

Specific neighborhoods of interest include: Tacoma Park, Silver Springs, near Tenley Town or Friendship Heights Metro, Rockville, Bethesda and Garret Park.
