Hi Bay Area fellows,
Some of you asked about what type of work we will be doing at Sunol
Farm, what age of children can join in, etc. My contact at People's
Grocery said:
We'll be doing "a combination of weeding, planting and harvesting,
possibly some fertilizing and mulching."
He also said that children of all ages are welcome to join in--he
said he often brings his 5-yr-old son on weekends.
I have only heard back from a few of you--please RSVP if you have not
already, so that I can give People's Grocery an estimate for how many
of us will be participating. You are welcome to bring friends and
family members too.
Thanks everyone! Looking forward to it.
Warm regards,
Joanna Levitt, '03-'04

Here is the original announcement:
A DAY AT THE FARM WITH PEOPLE'S GROCERY OF OAKLAND
SATURDAY, JUNE 23rd, 9am to 3pm
People's Grocery "is a community-based organization in West Oakland
that develops creative solutions to the health, environmental and
economic challenges our community faces every day." One of their core
programs centers on urban agriculture and farmers markets, through
garden plots in Oakland as well as outside the city, at Sunol farm.
We are invited to spend a morning working at Sunol farm!
We would meet up at People's Grocery offices in downtown Oakland in
the morning, then head out together to the farm (about 20 minutes
outside Oakland) and spend the morning working in the garden. We'll
bring bag lunches and gather for lunch, and reflect a bit on service
in our lives, and renewing our spirits...
Spouses, children, friends, partners, are welcome to come as well!
PLEASE TELL ME THE FOLLOWING ASAP:
1) whether you plan to participate
2) whether you will bring someone in addition to yourself
3) If you'd like to come, but this date doesn't work for you, would Sunday,
6/24 or Saturday, 6/30 be better?
Thanks everyone!
I hope to hear from you soon.
Warm regards,
