Happy New Year to all --

I wanted to keep you posted about my whereabouts and a few great gigs
coming up in India.
I had a wonderful performance in Ahmedabad last week at the Saptak Music
Festival
with my dear friend sitarist Krishna Bhatt, his sons Baiju and Shantnu and
a superb group of Rajasthani folk musicians.
Earlier in the day we performed with same group along with VM Bhatt on
Mohan veena on an outdoor stage heated with large cauldrons of burning
wood. It was a very unique setting.
Days were spent rehearsing and enjoying the home of the Mehta family who
founded the Saptak festival 32 years ago.

Since then I have been in Chennai performing at the Chennai Global Music
Festival.
I performed on Friday with violinist M. Lalitha and will be back on stage
tonight
with powerhouse drummers Ranjit Barot, Selva Ganesh and mandolinist U.
Rajesh.
