BombayJazz is four acknowledged masters performing 21st century
global jazz. They made their debut in India in 2003, receiving
critical and popular acclaim. They have since thrilled audiences in
Europe, the US and the UK with their relentless pursuit of
compositional and improvisational excellence.
"East meets west in brilliant mix" - Maldon (UK) Standard

"...such a dynamic mix of sound and rhythm, it nearly brought the
house down." Chelmsford (UK) Weekly News

BombayJazz performs a dynamic blend of Jazz and classical Indian
music. Each member of the group is an accomplished performer and
composer, and each contributes his own spices to the fragrant mix.
BombayJazz explores the melodic richness of raga and the dynamic
rhythmic interplay that is common to both Indian classical music and
jazz, while pioneering a harmonic exploration rarely heard in east –
west fusions of any kind.

As one of the pioneers of jazz-rock - perhaps the pioneer - Larry
Coryell deserves a special place in the history books. He is equally
at home on the classical stage, on the cutting edge of fusion or
trading ferocious jazz licks with James Moody or Jimmy Smith. Larry
has performed alongside the likes of Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, John
McLaughlin, Paco De Lucia, Pat Metheny and Al Di Meola and has toured
India with Bombay Jazz, L. Subramanium and Shakti.

Saxophone virtuoso, George Brooks, has been hailed as “the leading
American voice in Indian-jazz fusion”. (San Francisco Chronicle) He
has collaborated with Indian classical gurus Hariprasad Chaurasia,
Zakir Hussain, Trilok Gurtu, Sultan Khan and L.Subramaniam. Brooks
has also performed with jazz and blues titans, John McLaughlin, Etta
James, Steve Smith, Anthony Braxton and new music pioneer, Terry
Riley. The Telegraph (Calcutta) called his CD Night Spinner, “one of
the finest Indo-jazz fusion albums ever.”

In the hands of world-renowned flutist, Ronu Majumdar, the bansuri, a
simple bamboo flute, becomes an instrument of tremendous power,
virtuosity and versatility. Ronu has garnered a Grammy nomination for
his fusion recordings and is one of the few Indian classical
musicians to delve deeply into Jazz. Ronu has performed with
international superstars, Ravi Shankar, George Harrison, Trilok Gurtu
and Ry Cooder. Ronu is a prolific composer who recently co-composed
the score for the award winning I-max film, “Mystic India”.

Aditya Kalyanpur represents the finest of the new generation of
Indian tabla players. Aditya was rigorously trained from the age of
five by Zakir Hussain and Ustad Alla Rakha. He has won numerous
awards and has performed throughout India, the US and Europe. Aditya
has performed with most of India's top artists including Shivkumar
Sharma, Shuujat Khan, Sultan Khan and Grammy winning guitarist,
Vishwa Mohan Bhatt. He has performed with the Rolling Stones, New
York saxophonist Tim Ries and the Boston based fusion group, Natraj.
