Learn how to effectively lock your bike in this workshop led by Missing Link Bike Cooperative. 11:00-11:30am: OUTFITTING YOUR BIKE FOR EVERYDAY USE: Are you and your bike ready for shopping, night riding and inclement weather? This workshop will be presented by Kurt Abrams, a long-time Berkeley resident and regular cyclist. 11:30am - 1:00pm: SAFER CYCLING WORKSHOP: Do you wonder how bicyclists survive in city traffic? Are you curious about how the vehicle code applies to cyclists? Do you have questions about how to handle tricky situations like lane changes or freeway overpasses? Would you like to know more about the free bicycle safety classes offered by the East Bay Bicycle Coalition? Bring your questions and curiosity to certified bicycle safety instructor Tom Ayres for an informal discussion. 1:00 - 2:30p.m.: HANDS-ON REPAIR WORKSHOP: Every cyclist has experienced the on-the-road flat or disengaged chain. Here is a workshop that will teach you the most effective ways to take care of these roadside problems as well other handy maintenance tips such as small adjustments, chain care with household items and how to diagnose problems. By the end of this workshop with Gregg, Bakari and Felipe, mechanics at the Downtown Berkeley Bike Station, you will feel like a pro. 2.
